Red Cross Lifeguarding Certification Course Ready to become a Lifeguard? This course is designed for participants that wish to Lifeguard at pools or waterparks with skills and knowledge to prepare you for a variety of scenarios in and around the water. PREREQUISITES Before attending class candidates must: 1. Be at least 15 years old on or before the final scheduled session of the course. 2. Be able to swim 150 yards, continuously demonstrating breath control and rhythmic breathing. Candidates may swim using the front crawl, breaststroke or a combination of both, but swimming on the back or side is not allowed. Swim goggles may be used. In sequence candidates must then tread water for 2 minutes, using only the legs. Candidates should place their hands under the armpits. Candidates will then swim an additional 50 yards. 4. Complete a timed event within 1 minute, 40 seconds: • Starting in the water, swim 20 yards. Swim goggles are not allowed • Surface dive, feet-first or headfirst, to a depth of 7 to 10 feet to retrieve a 10-pound object • Return to the surface and swim 20 yards on the back to return to the starting point with both hands holding the object and keeping the face at or near the surface so they are able to get a breath • Exit the water without using a ladder or steps Online plus In-person training: • Online: 7 hours and 30 minutes • In-person: ~19 hours and 30 minutes NOTE: The online component link will be emailed to you and you will be contacted within 24 hours to set up the in-person session once registration has been completed.

Refunds: 90% refund 10 or more days prior to course start date 50% refund 5-9 days in advance No refunds within 5 days of course without documentation Reschedule: no charge for first reschedule 10 days prior to course start. $25 charge to reschedule within 9 days of course. When there are unforeseen circumstances out of anyone’s control, if possible, classes will be rescheduled rather than cancelled. Class Policies Participants must arrive to class on time and attend all required class sessions If a class has pre-requisites and a participant is unsuccessful, a refund will not be issued. Transfer to another course offering is possible depending on availability. Participant agrees to cover cost for additional instruction if placed on candidate work plan (instructor level courses)
