Babysitting and Child Care Training
This Atlanta, Georgia area Babysitter Training course from the Safety Penn Training organization is authorized by the American Red Cross and is designed for those ages 11 and older. It is delivered in a traditional classroom setting with caring, compassionate and knowledgeable instructors who can help the students understand the proper techniques for caring for infants and children they are babysitting. This babysitting training course helps the attendees become more capable and confident babysitters.
This course is instructor-led and interactive with the students with hands-on demonstrations and skills practice using infant CPR manikin dolls. During COVID-19 there will be social distancing protocols in place.
Babysitting and Child Care Course Purpose

To train youth who are planning to babysit with the knowledge and skills necessary to safely and responsibly care for children and infants.

Help participants to develop leadership skills.

Keep themselves and the children they are watching over safe

Students will learn the following skills from this class:
Safety Skills: Students learn how to prevent unsafe situations and what to do when faced with dangers such as power failures or weather emergencies.
Child Care Skills: Students learn tips to manage behavior that will help them stay in control of themselves and the children in their care. Students also learn the ages and stages of child development, as well as practice diapering, spoon-feeding and behavior management.
First Aid and Rescue Skills: Students learn a system to help them assess and respond to injuries and illnesses, injury prevention and management, and choking rescue. We will cover basic CPR, choking management and basic first aid in the class as well.
Life and Business Skills: The ability to screen jobs, discuss fees, and greet prospective employers will set students up for success now and in the future. Students practice these skills through various role plays such as parent interviews. A general discussion about the babysitting business will also be discussed.

Attendees must be at least 11 years old.

Instructors
A currently authorized American Red Cross Babysitter's Training instructor will be instructing the on-site class.
